Help needed

Hi. I finally started my Swallowtail Shawl. I am using very thin yarn on 3mm needles and, although I am nearly done with the 14 reps of the Budding Lace 2 chart, the result is still ridiculously small. So I am planning to do more reps of this pattern before I start the Lily of the Valley border. I would like to know, from those that have already got so far, the approximate measures of your Budding lace sections. Thank you.

I'm not sure I understand the question - but I did an extra 5 repeats of the budding lace chart - and the rest of the numbers worked out fine. It's still on the small side, but bigger than it would have been.

I've gifted my shawl so I can't measure it, but I can tell you what I remember! Swallowtail isn't a huge shawl, but it does stretch a lot when you block it. If you're wanting a substatial shawl, I'd add some more budding lace.O

I'm so glad you asked this, as I have two balls of Misti Alpaca lace and would like to make a bigger shawl. Thanks!

Good question, mine as well. I find the shawl very small so its good I can do some more reps.

Add the extra repeat rows of budding lace in blocks of 5 ( ie work 19 repeats or 24 repeats instead of the 14 the pattern says )then the charts for the lily of the valley and the edging work out correctly.
